Video Sections
What Is a Video Section?
A Video section embeds a YouTube video into your class. Guests watch the video directly on the class page. Optionally, you can add timed prompts — questions or fill-in-the-blank items that automatically pause the video at a specific moment and ask the guest to respond before continuing.
Setting Up a Video Section
Adding the YouTube Video
1. Open the Video section in the class builder.
2. Click the settings icon (top left of the section) to open the section settings modal.
3. Paste your YouTube video URL into the video link field.
4. Save. The video player appears in the editor.
Supported URL formats:
• https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID
Note: Only YouTube videos are supported at this time. The video must be publicly accessible or unlisted (not private).
Adding Timed Prompts
Timed prompts pause the video at a specific moment and show the guest a question or message. The video does not resume until the guest responds or dismisses the prompt.
How to Add a Prompt
1. Play the video in the builder.
2. When the video reaches the moment where you want a prompt to appear, click the "Add Prompt at Timecode" button (shown in the center of the navigation bar below the video player).
3. A type picker appears. Select the prompt type.
4. Enter the prompt text and configure whether to record the guest's response.
5. Save.
The prompt is now attached to that timecode and will appear automatically for guests when the video reaches that point.
Prompt Types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Question | A freeform question. Guests type a response. |
| Fill-In the Blank | A sentence with a blank for guests to complete by typing. Use the underscore character (_) wherever you want the blank; add multiple underscores for multiple blanks. |
Tips for Prompts
• Leave about 10 seconds between a prompt's timecode and the next section of video content, so guests have time to answer before the video moves on.
• Fill-in-the-blank example: "Jesus said, ___ are the pure in heart" — the guest types their answer in the blank.
Navigating Between Prompts
While the video is playing in the builder:
• Click the left arrow to jump to the previous prompt's timecode.
• Click the right arrow to jump to the next prompt's timecode.
Recording Responses
When adding a prompt, you can choose whether to record the guest's response. If recording is enabled, the guest's answer is saved as a submission and appears in the Guest detail view under this section.
Managing Prompts
To edit or delete an existing prompt:
1. Play the video until it reaches the prompt's timecode (it will pause automatically), or use the arrow navigation to jump to it.
2. The prompt editor appears below the video player.
3. Make your changes or delete the prompt.
What Guests See
Guests see the YouTube video player and can play, pause, and seek as normal. When the video reaches a prompt timecode, it pauses automatically and the prompt appears below the video. The guest responds and clicks a button to resume. The video continues from where it left off.
Common Questions
What happens if a guest skips forward past a prompt timecode? The video will pause and show the prompt at that timecode even if the guest seeked past it. Prompts are triggered based on playback position.
Are guest responses to prompts saved? Only if the prompt has the record option enabled. If recording is off, the prompt appears but no data is stored.
Can I add prompts without a YouTube link? No. The video link must be set before prompts can be added, because prompts require a timecode from the video.
Do video prompts work on mobile? Yes. The video player and prompts are responsive and work on mobile devices.
Can I use videos from platforms other than YouTube? No. Only YouTube is currently supported.
How do I save a guest's answer to a video prompt? Guests click the check mark (or save button) next to the answer box to save their response for that prompt. For data you need reliably from every guest, use a Form section with required fields — those are always saved on submission.
Can I embed an image directly in a course? There's no image block. Text and Display Text blocks don't have an image upload button. To show an image, add a link to the image URL in a Text block so guests can open it. Contact support for other options.
